November is here and the days are growing darker. Amidst large piles of academic reading and writing, I have been burning the midnight oil to add more content to the et cetera section. For now, I will focus on archiving my paintings, but there are many drawings, sculpture and collage intended for this section as well. Am going to need a new method of formatting content lists soon (hopefully with more integrated images). Until then, the seed continues to germinate.....
This fall has brought some new screenings of memento mori, which has continued to be well-received beyond my greatest expectations. In September, it was presented in the 2013 International Competition programme at EXiS Festival of Experimental Film + Video in Seoul, South Korea, alongside works by Nathaniel Dorsky, Ben Rivers, James Benning, Robert Todd, and Daïchi Saïto. It was also presented at the Light Cone fall preview show, in Paris, France, as a new acquisition for their distribution catalogue. This October, it screens at Festival du nouveau cinema in Montréal, Quebec, and Jihlava International Documentary Festival in the Czech Republic. I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the curators out there who have shown the film -- it is a challenging work and requires some programming guts and genuine integrity to be willing to unleash it on unsuspecting audiences. Nonetheless, the responses and feedback I have received in the past year have been overwhelmingly positive, and in addition to the awards the film has received, it was recently mentioned on Blouin Artinfo as one of eight notable "risk-takers" at Festival du nouveau cinema.
I also recently had the pleasure of crafting an image-scape to accompany a live performance by Fire Moss (David Parker & Kristiana Clemens) at Kingston's Tone Deaf Festival on October 20th, 2013. While I was not able to attend the concert in person, I was lucky enough to obtain an audio recording, which has been added to the video mix and can be viewed below.
Finally, I'd like to congratulate my friend and fellow Loop Collective member Stephen Broomer on his recent presentations at TIFF's Wavelengths series, and NYFF's Views From the Avant-Garde. Stephen is a great filmmaker and I strongly encourage you to check out his work!
work on this website is slowly progressing... new elements have been added to the "etc." section -- this area will focus primarily on acrylic, ink, and graphite, as well as collage-based works (though a few photographic works have been included for the time being).
more paintings & collages will be added over the next month, as well as a newly completed photography section. stay tuned.

This week, memento mori received its Asian Premiere in the competition programme at EXiS Festival of Experimental Film and Video in Seoul, South Korea (September 5-12, 2013). The film has also been accepted into distribution by Light Cone (Paris, France), and will be included in their Fall Preview Show (September 11-13).
During the course of summer, the piece was also shown in August at Cinema City Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia, and Revelation Film Festival (curated by Jack Sergeant) in Perth, Australia.
